Job Summary
- Plans and administers respiratory care functions.
- Provides individualized assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe and effective respiratory care.
- Collaborates with healthcare team to promote patient progress and quality outcomes.
- Documents care and maintains patient and department records.
- Manages time and resources effectively to support department operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver quality respiratory care within departmental guidelines and scope of practice.
- Adhere to aseptic technique and universal precautions.
- Consider patient safety, age, cultural, psychosocial, and physical needs when providing care.
- Explain procedures to patients and families and answer questions.
- Follow patient care assessments and patient-driven protocols.
- Identify inappropriate care and recommend appropriate actions.
- Communicate patient status and changes to healthcare team members.
- Update patient care plans once per shift.
- Consult other departments for interdisciplinary patient care.
- Attend patient care rounds as requested.
- Document care according to department policies and procedures.
- Use computer systems proficiently for documentation and charge entry.
- Complete delegated duties within timeframes and adapt to changing workloads.
- Organize and prioritize assignments effectively.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of recent respiratory therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner experience.
Licensure
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in California.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
