Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Henderson, Kentucky
• 13-week contract
• Nights: 12-hour shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48-hour contracts upon request
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Experience with Epic

Schedule

• Bi-weekly orientation
• Every third weekend
• Every other holiday

Unit Details

• 45-bed unit
• Typical ratios: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-7
• CN takes full assignment on nights and may take patients on days

Float Scope

• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus and potentially to Deaconess Midtown (IN)
• Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible
• Cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible

Clinical Experience / Skills

• General Med/Surg patient population includes gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements/ORIFs, COVID, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, and respiratory patients
• PIV insertion
• Chest tube and indwelling drain management
• CBI
• Drip management: heparin, cardizem
• PEGs/NGs
• Ostomy care
• Remote tele
• Blood product administration
• NIHSS/dysphagia screen

Additional Notes

• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• Navy blue scrubs required; no competing health systems or agency logos
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
