Job Opportunity: Cardiovascular Surgical Tech

Job Description

• Work in a Cardiovascular Operating Room setting with 3 cardiothoracic surgeons performing approximately 50-60 cases per month.
• Responsible for setting up operative suites, ensuring case carts are fully stocked, scrubbing surgical cases across various specialties, and turning over rooms for multiple procedures daily.
• May be required to float to other Central Aspirus locations as needed.
• Shift: 8-hour variable shifts
• On Call: 1 night of call per week, 1 weekend per month, plus 1 backup call per week. Occasional additional call may be required. Must respond within 30 minutes and be ready in the OR.
• Weekend/Holiday: Every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation.
• Must be flexible, motivated during downtime (e.g., pulling case carts, cleaning), resilient, and able to manage change well.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) experience (highest required years of experience)
• Prior travel experience required
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certifications: BLS required; CST license preferred
• Must have AHA or ARC certifications as per facility policy
• Must comply with flu and COVID vaccination policy or wear a mask at all times during flu season

Additional Information

• Guaranteed 40 hours per week (except during holidays when the unit is closed)
• Eligible for 36 hours of unbillable low census hours per contract
• Call back minimum pay for 2 hours if called back to the facility
• Radius Rule: Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Facility uses Epic for charting

Desired Skills

• Experience with cardiac/thoracic cases and thoracic robotic surgery
• Strong work ethic, social skills, and ability to handle downtime productively
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and maintain resilience

This position offers a dynamic environment with a high volume of cardiovascular surgical cases and requires a motivated, experienced surgical tech comfortable with travel assignments and on-call responsibilities.
