Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a Cardiovascular Operating Room with 3 CV rooms and 1-2 PV rooms, handling 1-5 cases per day (approximately 45 cases/month).
• Cases include off and on pump bypass grafts, AVR, MVR, TVR, full and minimally invasive maze procedures, thoracoscopic/thoracotomy, pacemakers, TAVR, pericardial windows, and ascending aortic dissections with subclavian cannulation.
• May circulate general cases during downtime.
• Responsible for pulling case carts, downtime stocking, cleaning, and other support tasks.
• Flexible candidate with excellent work ethic, resilience, and ability to manage change is desired.
• Social and team-oriented personality preferred.
• Scrub colors: any color.

Work Schedule

• 40 hours guaranteed per week.
• 8-hour shifts, various times.
• On-call: 1 night of call per week, 1 weekend per month, plus 1 backup call per week; additional call may be required occasionally.
• Weekend/Holiday rotation: every 3rd weekend and holidays.
• May be required to float to other Central Aspirus locations if needed.
• Guaranteed hours except during holidays when the unit is closed.
• During flu season, mandatory flu and COVID vaccination or mask-wearing policy applies.

Required Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin RN License.
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum 2+ years of Operating Room experience.
• Cardiothoracic experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of cardiac surgery.
• Prior travel experience is required.
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred.
• Critical thinking skills, motivation, and flexibility to perform various tasks.

Additional Information

• Radius rule: traveler must be located outside 50 miles from the facility.
• Compliance with vaccination and mask policies during flu season is mandatory.
