Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology

Location: Malta, New York
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide outpatient infusion services specializing in intravenous therapy.

  • Administer treatments including:

    • IV antibiotics, antifungals, steroids (e.g., Solumedrol)
    • Blood and blood product transfusions
    • Maintenance of central venous access devices and PICC line placement
    • IV Immune Globulin therapy (IVIG), hydration therapy, IV/IM vitamins
    • Care and maintenance of intrathecal or implanted infusion pumps
    • Iron infusions (Venofer, Injectafer)
    • Teaching patients self-administration of medications (e.g., Humira, Lovenox, Hepatitis C treatments)
    • Therapeutic phlebotomies
    • Specialty medications for autoimmune and chronic conditions (e.g., Remicade, Simponi, Actemra, Stelara, Tysabri, Boniva, Epogen, Xolair, Entyvio, Radicava)
  • EPIC electronic health record experience is required.

  • Dress code: Personal scrubs of any color (no designs, cartoons, or hoodies).

  • Non-billable orientation: 8 hours.

  • No on-call required.

  • Overtime and holiday pay multiplier: 1.25x.

  • Cancellation policy: Facility may cancel up to 5 shifts per 13-week contract with 2 hours’ notice.

  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved before assignment start; no more than 5 days allowed.


Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New York.
  • New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency License/Registration Certificate must be submitted upfront.
  • Minimum 2+ years current experience in outpatient oncology and infusion nursing.
  • Chemotherapy Certification (ONS) and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) credentials required.
  • Peripheral IV insertion experience required.
  • Experience with ports, fistulas, and catheters required.
  • IV Certification highly preferred.
  • EPIC experience required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Previous travel nursing experience.

Compliance and Profile Requirements

  • Must pass a 14-panel drug screen within 24 hours of offer acceptance.
  • Must have completed verbal de-escalation training from an approved provider as of 1/1/2024.
  • Profile must include:
    • Work history and skills checklist updated within the past year.
    • One supervisory signed reference from the past two years.
    • Current licenses and certifications uploaded (Nursys, BLS, Oncology Certification, Chemo Certification, ACLS, de-escalation training, permanent address).
    • Permanent address must match driver’s license/state ID and cannot be from the following New York counties: Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, Washington.

Additional Notes

  • COVID vaccinations are encouraged but not required.
  • Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
