Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech Maternal Fetal

Location: Farmington, New Mexico (Travel to Gallup, Farmington, and Santa Fe clinics)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Traveling position covering multiple clinics in New Mexico (Gallup, Farmington, Santa Fe).
  • Daily shift: 5:15 AM to approximately 6:30-7:00 PM (includes travel time between facilities).
  • Team transportation provided; driver assigned on certain days, sonographer drives outreach van on others.
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • No local candidates within 100 miles accepted.
  • COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
  • Cases involve low and high-level Women's Imaging for pregnant women.
  • Equipment used includes GE E22, GE E10, GE S10 ultrasound machines.
  • Weekend shifts are not required.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Must complete a safe driving module.
  • Residence in Albuquerque, NM preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography license in New Mexico
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography experience with a minimum of 5 years, including experience within the last year
  • ARDMS certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Experience in high level Women's Imaging for pregnant women

Additional Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, fingerprinting (done onsite during orientation), and federal/state screenings.
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted).
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • COVID vaccination (with exemptions)
    • Flu vaccine (year-round, with exemptions)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; history of disease not accepted)
    • Hepatitis B (declination, series, or titer)
  • Completion of facility-specific safety and orientation training modules.
  • Must complete medication and competency exams as required.
  • Two professional references within three years of hire.
  • Complete employment application with at least 3 years of work history verification.

Work Environment

  • Level I Trauma, Teaching, Children’s Hospital, Short-term acute care setting.
  • Charting system: Cerner.
  • Parking: No fee.
  • Overtime applies after 48 hours.
  • New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks.
  • A 6-month break is required for travelers after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of work, whichever comes first.

  • Travel experience is not explicitly required; first-time travelers are accepted.
