Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse
Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- No block scheduling available
- Float to Emergency Room (ER), Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), Telemetry/Med-Surg as needed
- Includes weekends and holidays
- No on-call required
- Patient Ratios:
- ICU: 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 depending on acuity
- IMCU: 5:1
- ICU patient population includes adults with conditions such as renal failure, shock, overdose, alcohol withdrawal, pulmonary edema, sepsis, acute renal failure, acute obstetrics stabilization, and post-surgical critical care
- Pediatric patients may be treated in the adult ICU as there is no dedicated pediatric ICU
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to work within a 50-mile radius (no local candidates within this radius accepted)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and drug screening required
- Health documents required:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations/vaccinations including Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu seasonal vaccination (or approved exemption during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination proof or declination form if unvaccinated
- Facility-specific documents and attestations must be completed and signed prior to start, including confidentiality, code of conduct, vehicle registration, and communication standards
- Orientation includes completion of LMS modules and possible on-site training for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) for ER nurses
