Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour nights
- Unit: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
- Patient Ratios: 1:6
- Patient Population: Young adults through geriatrics with a broad range of care needs
- Float: Required to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Charting System: Epic (experience required)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience with Epic charting system
- Certifications (issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross where applicable):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- Tech Cert Verification - National
Licensing
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
- Primary source online license verification required
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Required immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Varicella (or documented history)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
Background & Documentation
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Education verification required (transcript or diploma accepted if verification pending)
- Work history verification for 7 years
- Photo for badge required
- Driver’s license or state ID required
- E-Verify compliance
- Various competency exams and safety acknowledgments as applicable
Additional Notes
- No local candidates from specified surrounding counties accepted
- Unit has 18 private rooms and 1 semi-private room, max census 20 patients
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with medical-surgical and telemetry skills, who are comfortable working night shifts and floating to units of similar or lower acuity. Epic charting experience and prior travel assignments are mandatory.
