Job Description
- Must provide 2 supervisory references (charge nurses count as only 1 reference).
- Prefer candidates with close to 2 years of experience.
- Floating to other units is required for most positions.
- Ohio State license required for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs).
Required Qualifications
- Current Ohio State license for RRT.
- Minimum 2 years of experience preferred in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty.
- Must have 2 professional references (manager or supervisor). Peer references are not acceptable.
- Ability to float to different units as needed.
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification required.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certification required.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for NICU RNs, may be relevant.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required as applicable.
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Required as applicable.
- NBRC certification required for RRTs.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - Passing score required.
- Competency Exam relevant to specialty - Passing score required.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county search and education verification.
- Government-issued photo ID required within 24-48 hours of contract signing.
- Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent.
- Sex offender search and state-specific registry checks required within 30 days of start.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start.
- Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Affiliating Health Record to be completed and verified.
- Infection Control Policy review and signature required prior to start.
- Fit mask testing (N95) required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
- TB testing or chest x-ray required with specific protocols for positive results.
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31), with medical/religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within 10 years of start.
- Other immunizations required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination or declination).
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start (agency standard).
- Skills checklist specific to unit required and must be updated annually.
Additional Information
- Legal name on all documents must match license and certifications exactly (no nicknames or aliases).
- Address on driver's license must match the address on the RRT license.
- Candidates with Ohio driver's licenses must not live within 60 miles of the facility to be considered travel.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with pediatric specialty skills who are licensed in Ohio and comfortable with floating to different units. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and certifications is mandatory.
