Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: No floating between units or facilities
  • Facility Type: Free Standing Emergency Room with 14 staffed rooms including a Resuscitation Room
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: Free

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
    • BLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • PALS
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Must be completed within 90 days prior to start, confirming ability to work without restrictions; updated annually
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive, chest X-ray documentation required
  • Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
  • COVID-19: Vaccination highly preferred but not required; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted; documentation must be uploaded by December 5 deadline
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required via RespSafety questionnaire

Documentation and Compliance

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 90 days of start, including multi-level criminal and employment verifications
  • Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
  • Work History Verification: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required; attestation letters accepted only if other verification methods exhausted
  • References: Two clinical references required, including at least one from the unit of assignment
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style color photo with solid light background, frontal view, cropped from shoulders up; no sunglasses or hats
  • Facility Specific Documents:
    • Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
    • Completion of confidentiality, security, contractor forms, and job description acknowledgment prior to start
    • First Day Instructions (FDI) will be provided after clearance
  • Radiation Badge: Not required for ER RN
