Registered Nurse - Oncology (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Monday to Friday, various day shifts (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
• Hours: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day
• Weekend/Holiday: No weekends or holidays required
• Patient Ratio: 1:4 (40 chairs/beds total in treatment, averaging 8-9 patients per day)
• Float Requirement: Must float within scope to other specified locations within a 75-mile radius
• Orientation: Occurs at main hospital location
• Guaranteed Hours: Yes
• Local Candidates: Not accepted (75-mile radius rule applies)
• Pending License: Accepted
• Time Off Restrictions: No more than 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract; no more than 3 tardies and 2 call-ins allowed per contract

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
• Minimum 2 years oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Oncology certification from ONS or ONCC
• Central line certification
• Administration and continuous infusion of chemotherapy
• IV push administration of chemotherapy
• Body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
• Management and disposal of cytotoxic spills

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification of highest nursing degree
• Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri)
• Unit-specific competency exams, including oncology competency exam
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for oncology and related specialties)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, including specific drug panels
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Tdap vaccine or declination (required; no exemption for Bone Marrow Transplant Unit)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Fit mask testing (N95 respirator) with annual renewal
• Required facility-specific documents including:

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
  • Confidentiality Form
  • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
  • Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code Policies acknowledgment
  • Orientation modules completion (approximately 16 hours)
  • Vehicle registration form (for day shift workers)
  • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, taken within 6 months)
