Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist (OT) - Acute Care Hospital

Location: Rio Rancho, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Occupational Therapy)
  • Patient Population: Adults, Geriatrics
  • Shift Options:
    • 5x8 hours, Monday-Friday OR Tuesday-Saturday
    • Shift times: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM OR 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: Either Monday-Friday with 2 rotating weekend shifts or Tuesday-Saturday
  • Caseload: Approximately 6 cases per day
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted within 75 miles radius
  • Pending State License: New Mexico license can be pending at time of submission
  • Return to Office Restrictions: Assignments longer than 7 days require approval
  • First-timers: Accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in New Mexico
  • Minimum of 1 year of Occupational Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with adult and geriatric patients
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Immunization & Health Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccination required (medical and religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation)
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption required
  • Tdap vaccine required (declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (THC not required)
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Fit mask test required within 1 year of start

Background & Compliance

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Fingerprinting required within 10 days of orientation (candidate responsible for fee)
  • Professional references: 2 within last 3 years (Aya requirement)
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually

Additional Notes

  • COVID exemptions require specific forms and approval process
  • Orientation and facility-specific training materials required
  • No on-call duties required
  • Block scheduling accommodated (M-F or Tues-Sat)
