Job Opportunity: PCU Float Registered Nurse

Location: Wichita Falls, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Support Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and float to overflow areas including Emergency Department (ED) for patient holds.
• Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks.
• Scheduled for 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee. Must be agreeable to a 36/48 alternating schedule.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Current NRP certification.
• CHEMO certification.
• TNCC certification.
• EFM certification.
• National Tech Cert Verification.
• ENPC certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Background check within 1 year, including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, and sex offender registry.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or equivalent within 1 year)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination required
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox required
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/1-5/31) or approved medical/religious exemption
  • COVID vaccination documentation required
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
• Required certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, ENPC, NIH Stroke Certification (refer to job-specific requirements).
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Annual updates for orientation safety manual acknowledgment and skills checklist.

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific documents prior to start, including but not limited to:

  • Health record forms
  • Code of conduct and compliance forms
  • Confidentiality and information security agreements
  • Orientation and acknowledgment forms
• Two professional references within 3 years required.
• Resume or employment application required.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Must be flexible and agreeable to alternating 36/48 hour shifts.
• Ability to float between PCU, overflow units, and ED holds.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and can adapt to varied clinical settings.
