Job Opportunity: MRI Tech

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule: Friday through Sunday (FRI-SUN)
• Required skills and experience:

  • MRI Safety knowledge, including researching implants and adhering to scanning guidelines
  • Experience with anesthesia and pediatric patients
  • Experience with Siemens MRI equipment required
  • 2+ years preferred experience at a Level 1 Trauma Center or teaching facility
  • Epic and PACS experience preferred
• Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted

Required Qualifications

• MRI Technologist with 2 years of experience
• MRI Technologist experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ARRT (MR) certification
• Experience working with pediatric patients

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background checks including county and national criminal searches, sex offender search, education verification, and transcript/diploma verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated annually
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents required and must be current:

  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B immunity or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • COVID vaccination series or approved exemption (booster preferred but not required)
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually

Competency and Testing Requirements

• Facility-specific competency exams including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Color blindness test
  • Unit-specific competency exams
  • Conscious sedation competency exam (if applicable)
  • RN math ability competency exam (if applicable)
• Pass/Fail EKG exam required for certain units (may apply depending on assignment)
• Annual EKG certification for applicable units
• Skills checklists updated annually and valid throughout contract

References and Employment History

• Two supervisor references required, verified within 6 months of start
• Employment verification for the past 7 years required
• Any employment gaps longer than 30 days must be explained

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
• Candidates must have a renewal plan in place for any certifications or documents expiring during the contract
• Must comply with facility-specific policies including confidentiality, acceptable use, and electronic communications agreements
