Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule: Every other weekend, some holidays, no on-call required
  • Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
  • Experience Required:
    • CVICU experience is required
    • Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
    • Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
    • Basic Arrhythmia experience required
  • Testing: Must pass Telemetry test prior to start

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum of 1 year CVICU experience within the last year
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing
  • State License 1 Verification
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including SSN trace, nationwide and county-level searches, sex offender registry, and education verification as applicable
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID form (state-mandated)
  • Drug screening per clinical standards
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • TB test or chest X-ray and TB questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or exemption
    • Varicella vaccination or exemption
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
    • Other vaccines as required by department or state regulations
  • Physical exam (to meet agency standards)
  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
  • Telemetry testing and competency exams as required, with remediation process for failed attempts

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete all required testing and documentation prior to start date
  • Telemetry test must be completed and passed within the same calendar year and cannot expire during the contract
  • Remediation courses are available for telemetry test failures, with a maximum of three attempts allowed
  • References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years required
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required
