Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Float Nurse
Location: Anderson, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: Medical Surgical (6 South)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
- Start Date: April 20
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Float Requirement: Yes; must float to other Medical Surgical units as needed
- Block schedule accommodation: No
- Local candidates accepted: Yes
- Pending license accepted if obtained prior to start
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – as required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – as required
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – preferred but not required for ER
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Proof of I-9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and international background check if applicable
- Transcript or diploma (if applicable)
- State license primary source verification
- Color blindness test (Ishihara)
- Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health
- Fit mask test (annual)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within required timeframes)
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug screening (9 panel, within 90 days of start)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 1)
- Photo for badge (no visible nose piercing allowed)
- Completion of facility-specific online orientation and acknowledgment
- Stroke education and acknowledgment (if working at facility for 1 year or longer)
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance evaluation or 2 professional references if previously worked at the facility for over 1 year
- Complete employment application/resume
Notes
- Candidates must renew certifications 15 days prior to expiration.
- Failure to verify license renewal by deadline may result in suspension or termination.
- Mask fit testing can be completed onsite if necessary.
- Flu vaccination exemptions require medical documentation or religious exemption form.
- Candidates must comply with all facility policies and submit all required documentation prior to start.
This position is suitable for nurses with at least 1 year of recent medical-surgical experience who are comfortable floating between units and working every other weekend. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
