Job Description
- Seeking a Cytotechnologist with non-gynecological experience.
- Familiarity with Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) procedures for adequacy is required.
- Must have 3 years of recent experience in the specialty.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
- Local candidates are also considered.
- Must be available to start ASAP (specific start date was Wednesday 5/27).
Required Qualifications
- Cytotechnologist with at least 3 years of experience.
- Experience in cytotechnology within the last year.
- Non-gynecological cytotechnology experience.
- Familiarity with Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) procedures for adequacy.
- Familiarity with Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) procedures for adequacy.
Certifications & Training
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA, MTN, or Canadian AHA accepted).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if applicable to the unit.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and quizzes with a 100% score prior to start.
- Color Blind Testing is required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test is not required for Cytotechnologists.
- Required immunizations or documented immunity including:
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity or declination
- Varicella immunity or declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test (IGRA or 2 PPDs) within 1 year or negative chest x-ray if positive TB history.
- Drug testing within 30 days of start covering required panels.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31).
- COVID-19 vaccine religious exemption forms if applicable.
Background & Compliance
- Background check required within 60 days of start (7-year search including SSN trace, counties/states lived/worked, federal and national criminal checks).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks must be run 15 days prior to start and every 45 days thereafter.
- Social Security verification required; candidates may start pending this if I-9 and eVerify are on file.
- Education verification of highest degree related to specialty required.
- Washington State Patrol check must be run within 90 days prior to start for placements in Washington.
Orientation & Facility Policies
- Must review and comply with facility orientation manual, daily responsibilities, dress code, masking policy, and workplace violence prevention plan prior to start.
- Must complete and pass orientation quizzes with 100% score in WorkRamp.
- Must complete and bring traveler orientation checklist on first day.
- Passport-style photo with white or gray background required for badge.
- ID badge and parking forms must be completed prior to start.
- Personnel restrictions due to illness policy must be reviewed.
- N95 fit testing will be completed onsite if providing patient care and facial hair must be clean-shaven when using N95 masks.
Additional Notes
- Truncated compliance is in effect.
- Remote workers have some exemptions (e.g., fit mask test not required).
- Candidates unable to complete Respiratory Safety Clearance may submit state-specific medical respirator questionnaires.
- Must complete all required facility-specific documentation and forms prior to start.
This position offers a structured day shift with a 13-week travel contract in a hospital setting requiring specialized cytotechnology skills and compliance with comprehensive credentialing and health requirements.
