RN / PCU (Renal)

Overview

  • Travel/contract RN role in Kansas City, Missouri
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–7:15
  • 36 hours per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • First-timers accepted
  • Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
  • Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments may be needed
  • Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period
  • Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
  • On-call is not required
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Requested time off: no more than 7 days
  • Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
  • Ratio: 1:5, with rare flex to 1:6

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • 1 year of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • Renal PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Must have renal transplant, PD cath, hemodialysis, drains, TPN, wound care, diabetes encephalopathy, acute renal rejection, thymo administration experience
  • Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response: Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Telemetry on the unit monitoring, Use of Rapid Response Teams
  • IV insulin protocols
  • Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Renal failure management
  • Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting IVs
  • Heparin Protocols
  • PCA
  • Nasal Cannula, Oxygen face masks
  • Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac

Preferred Qualifications

  • CVA
  • Surgical drains
  • Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac
  • Tracheostomy Management
  • Thymo titration

Unit / Clinical Notes

  • PCU (Renal)
  • Hemodialysis is not required to be performed by unit RNs because the facility has a contracted dialysis process
  • All transplant patients are 2:1 for 48 hours
