Job Description

• Work as the only Respiratory Therapist (RT) on duty covering multiple areas including floor care, ICU, and Emergency Department (ED).
• Respond to all CODEs, rapid responses, and traumas.
• The hospital is a small rural facility with a relatively busy ED.
• Neonatal care includes attending most deliveries as support, providing occasional PPV/NRP; babies requiring NICU care are transferred.
• Pediatric patients are treated in the ED; admitted pediatric patients are transferred.
• Adult patients include "simple" ventilated patients; complicated cases are transferred due to no specialists on site.
• The RT will float within their scope to meet facility needs.

• V60, Hamilton G5, Hamilton MRI ventilators
• Vapotherm, Airvo, Aerobika, Vest
• Panda warmer with neopuff, RAM cannula
• Aerogen, BAN, ResMed

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• First-time travelers accepted.
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)
• State license pending may be accepted at manager’s discretion.
• EPIC charting experience is required.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday requirement: Participation in holiday rotation.
• No on-call required.
• Local candidates within 70 miles are not accepted.
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion.

Work Hours & Scheduling

• Guaranteed minimum hours based on shift confirmation:

  • 3x12-hour shifts: minimum 36 hours/week
  • 4x12-hour shifts: minimum 48 hours/week
  • Shifts less than 12 hours: minimum 40 hours/week
• Possible shift cancellations allowed up to 12 hours per 4-week period for 12-hour shifts.
• Request time off (RTO) should be submitted upfront; participation in holiday and weekend rotations may be required.

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Background check within 12 months including SSN trace, 7-year county residence/work history, nationwide search, and sex offender search.
• Various state-specific background checks and caregiver screenings as applicable.
• Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health.
• Negative drug screen within 12 months of start.
• Immunizations and titers required or documentation thereof:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption (annual renewal required)
  • COVID vaccine series preferred
• TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT within 12 months; chest x-ray within 5 years if positive PPD.
• OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start; fit testing completed onsite during orientation.
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and documentation.
• Photo for badge required.
• Confidentiality and security agreements must be signed prior to start.
• Various competency exams and certifications as required by unit.
• References and skills checklist required.
