Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cartersville, Georgia
Facility: Hospital within Piedmont Healthcare system
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Unit Details:
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Call: None
- Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Minimum Experience: 2 years (first-time travelers accepted)
- Holiday Work:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
- Major Holidays Include:
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day - Orientation: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Locals Accepted: Yes, at same rate
Required Credentials & Compliance
Background Checks & Verifications
- Background check required within 30 days of start (must include county, national sex offender, nationwide criminal search, FACIS 3, education verification)
- Education verification of related degree required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
- Diplomas required for Respiratory Therapists (RRTs)
- Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
- Two clinical references required
Licenses & Certifications
- State License: Must be valid and verified within 30 days prior to start (Georgia license required for CRTs & RRTs)
- NURSYS Verification: Annual verification within 30 days prior to start
- ACLS: Required for RNs in many specialties (ER, PACU, Critical Care, etc.); must be current prior to start
- BLS: Required for most nursing roles; must be current prior to start
- PALS: Required for RNs in PACU, ER, and other pediatric-accepting areas
- NRP: Required if specialty indicates
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Online course required within a few months of hire for applicable staff; no renewal required
- NIH Stroke Certification: If required, must be completed yearly
- Tech Cert Verification: National certification verification if applicable, within 30 days prior to start
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for RNs and LVNs by Aya (not client)
- Color Blind Testing required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Telemetry, ICU, ER, and related units; up to 3 attempts allowed
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (required by Aya, not client)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months; can start with TB test pending if TB questionnaire on file
- TB Questionnaire required annually for all candidates
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
- Flu vaccine or declination required annually during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
Facility Policies & Documents
- Must review and sign Code of Conduct and Acknowledgement prior to start
- Must review Dress and Professional Appearance Policy
- Delineation of Privileges document required only for CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant and RNFA specialties
Additional Notes
- Aya offer contingent on clinical pass within RTO guidelines and meeting facility requirements
- Number of orientation hours scales with contract length
- Clinical remediation not allowed for competency exams, but WorkRamp remediation permitted
- Candidates with less than 30-day gap between previous Piedmont assignments may have some verifications accepted on file
