Medical Surgical Oncology

Role Overview

Travel/Contract RN position in Columbus, Ohio
Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
36 hours per week
Based on a Med Surg unit with hematology oncology focus
Floating to other Med/Surg and Oncology units

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Ohio
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience
BLS issued by American Heart Association
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
Experience with Epic
IV therapy/Phlebotomy
Blood Product Administration
Central line blood draw
Peripheral Line Care/Management
Experience with PICC lines
Starting IVs
Experience with feeding tubes
Interpretation of dysrhythmias
Use of Rapid Response Teams

Preferred Qualifications

Hematology oncology experience
Oncology experience
ONS certification

Unit Details

Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, with up to 1:5
No set or blocked scheduling
Patient population includes lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute leukemias, chronic leukemias, sickle cell disease, other non-cancer hematology, and other benign hematology
Common procedures and care include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, insulin drips, heparin drips, infection prevention, and fall prevention

Additional Notes

Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
A unit-specific competency exam is required
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam is required for all RNs within 1 year of start and updated annually, unless excluded by facility rules
