Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- 36 hours per week
Unit and Patient Population
- Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with 20 beds
- Patient types include:
- Total Knee and Hip replacements
- Complicated orthopedic cases
- Pulmonary, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, psychiatric illnesses
- Behavioral health patients on 7th floor (detox, dementia, potentially violent)
- Facility provides safety and de-escalation training for behavioral health care
Staffing Ratios
- Day shift: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Night shift: 1 nurse to 6 patients (rarely 1:7)
Floating
- Frequent floating required to meet hospital staffing needs
- May float to multiple units including Bellevue campus and various medical/surgical, neuro, trauma, observation, and specialty units
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Facility Policies
- 100% nicotine-free facility
- Scrubs mandatory: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Parking permit or daily parking available (cost varies)
Work Schedule and Time Off
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat)
- Up to two weeks of RTO (request time off) allowed; must be submitted with application
- Holiday work requirement: must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Candidate Restrictions
- Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 30 days of start, including multiple county/state/federal checks
- Ongoing monthly SAM and OIG checks required
- Education verification required
- State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required
- Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required
- Annual physical exam and fit mask test required
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire if positive history
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (boosters if needed)
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters if needed)
- Drug screen within 60 days of start and annually
- Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
- COVID vaccine preferred (medical/religious exemption or declination accepted)
- Annual skills checklist required
- Two professional references from past 2 years required
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
