Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Mount Vernon, Illinois

Job Description

• Work in a Cath Lab setting with an average caseload of 5 cases per day across 2 rooms.
• Procedures include Left/Right heart catheterization, Pacemaker/ICD implantation, Loop recorder implants, Peripheral vascular interventions, and STEMI interventions.
• Shift: Day shift, typically 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM).
• Weekend requirement: Typically 1 weekend per month.
• On-call requirement: 12 days per month with a 30-minute response time.
• No floating outside of scope of practice.
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion.
• Local candidates within a 70-mile radius are not accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, including experience within the last year.
• Experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist.
• ARRT certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.

Work Environment & Facility Information

• Total staffed beds: 125.
• Scrubs provided for the unit.
• Charting system: EPIC.
• Free parking available in any unrestricted space.

Scheduling & Hours

• Guaranteed hours depend on shift pattern:

  • 5x8 or 4x10 shifts guarantee minimum 40 hours/week.
  • 3x12 shifts guarantee minimum 36 hours/week.
  • 4x12 shifts guarantee minimum 48 hours/week.
• Call-off policy allows up to 24-36 hours off per 13-week assignment depending on shift length without pay. On-call hours count as call-off hours.
• One RTO (request time off) allowed per contract.

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• Criminal background check within 12 months required.
• Drug screen negative within 12 months required.
• Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health required.
• OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start for fit testing (fit test completed onsite during orientation).
• TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months required; chest x-ray within 5 years if PPD positive.
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season.
• COVID vaccination series preferred but not mandatory.
• Required to complete facility-specific orientation modules and training, including annual updates.
• Must complete Cath Lab AbioMed Impella Online Training annually.
• Must sign confidentiality, security agreements, and standards of ethical conduct prior to start.
• Passport-style photo required for badge.
• References and skills checklist required per placement standards.

• First-time travelers are considered but preference given to those with prior travel experience.
• Call response time is strict (30 minutes).
• No floating outside of scope of practice.
• Local candidates within 70 miles are not accepted.
