Job Opportunity: Pediatric BMT Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Specialty: Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Registered Nurse with Hematology/Oncology experience
  • Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, every other week (3 shifts/week, 12 hours each)
  • Unit: 24 Hematology/Oncology beds, 10 BMT beds, plus 17 overflow beds
  • May float to General Pediatrics floor, PICU, NICU, and sister campus as needed
  • Primary focus on Hem/Onc and BMT units, which are located one floor apart

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Bone Marrow Transplant experience within the last year
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
  • APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications & Compliance

  • Annual proof of OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission training or signed attestation required
  • Flu vaccination mandatory for the current season; no exemptions accepted
  • Drug testing: 10-panel plus nicotine/cotinine test within 60 days of start (no instant tests accepted)
  • Fit mask (N95) testing within 12 months of start required; specific mask models mandated
  • Tdap vaccine required (no declinations accepted)
  • Immunization or positive titer proof required for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Negative TB test (Qgold or Tspot) within 3 months of start; chest x-ray required if TB positive in past

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) must be carried during shifts
  • Social Security card required
  • E-Verify proof or attestation required
  • Background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, statewide, county, nationwide, sex offender, and education verification as applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
  • Proof of nursing degree from accredited college required
  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
  • Complete employment application/resume required
  • Annual skills checklist for applicable unit required

Health Requirements

  • Physical exam required within 1 year of start (not required to be updated annually)
  • Annual fit mask testing (N95) required for new contracts
  • Mandatory flu vaccine for current season
  • Required immunizations and titers as listed above
  • Drug screening as specified

Additional Notes

  • The nurse may be scheduled on one floor but floated to another as needed within the hospital
  • Facility-specific confidentiality and security agreement must be signed prior to start
  • Facility will send orientation and facility-specific documents directly to the traveler before start date
