Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
• Night shift schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients.
• Every other weekend required.
• Float responsibilities to Medical-Surgical (MS), MS/Telemetry, ICU, and Emergency Department for MS and MS/Telemetry patients.
• Must have cardiac stepdown or cardiac ICU experience within the last 2 years (hard requirement).

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year.
• Cardiac stepdown experience.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Criminal background check within 12 months, including SSN trace, 7-year county residence/work history, nationwide search, and sex offender search.
• State-specific background checks and caregiver searches as applicable for Missouri.
• Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification prior to start.
• Negative drug screen within 12 months of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health.
• TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest X-ray within 5 years if prior positive PPD.
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season.
• OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start for fit testing. Fit testing will be completed onsite during orientation.
• Photo for badge (passport style, plain background).
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and documents prior to or during orientation.
• References and skills checklist required.

Certifications and Competencies

• ACLS and BLS certifications must be current and AHA-approved.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Telemetry and Stepdown units.
• NIH Stroke Certification required for ICU, ED, MS/Telemetry, Stepdown, and PCU units.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required only for Behavioral Health and ER (not applicable here).

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be willing to float to multiple care areas including ICU and ED for MS/Telemetry patients.
• Fit testing requires candidates to be clean-shaven; refusal will result in cancellation and ineligibility to work at this facility.
• Modules and training must be completed annually or as required by the unit.
• Candidates will complete orientation checklists post-start.
• COVID vaccination preferred but not mandatory.
