ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Pasadena, California
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Work primarily in ICU with mixed experience including neuro, solid CCU, and MICU (minimum 2 years required).
- Candidate must have formal ICU training beyond just hands-on orientation to CCU, sepsis, and experience beyond COVID care.
- May float up to 50% of the time to DOU/PCU, Telemetry, and ER Hold units.
- Patient ratios up to 1:4.
- Weekends and holidays included in the schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience
- Experience with Epic
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Resume must clearly demonstrate ICU experience as specified; no manager interview—selection based on resume.
- Background checks including 7-year history, social security trace, county, OFAC, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG must be completed within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam and health documents (including TB screening, immunizations, drug testing, and fit mask testing) must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing.
- Required immunizations and titers include: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Flu seasonal vaccine, and COVID vaccination (initial series required, booster preferred).
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of assignment, updated annually.
- Two professional references required (supervisor level or above).
- Employment history covering 7 years with no gaps over 30 days.
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required.
- Photo for badge and facility-specific forms (e.g., TB questionnaire, meal waiver) must be submitted.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Float assignments may include telemetry, progressive care, and emergency hold units.
- Patient care ratios can be as high as 1 nurse to 4 patients.
- Work includes weekends and holidays.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel nursing experience seeking an 8-week day shift contract in California.
