Hospice RN Travel/Contract Job

Overview

Job Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
• Directly supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses.
• Cover home visits and periodic office meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Hospice experience within the last year
• 1 year of hospice experience
• Experience in a Home Health setting
• One completed travel assignment
• Current BLS/CPR issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Active license in hand
• Reliable transportation
• Driver's License
• Agency-required liability insurance
• Experience with Homecare Homebase
• Experience with OASIS

Schedule and Coverage

• Standard schedule is Monday–Friday
• Weekend and on-call needs vary by location and profession
• May be assigned a Baylor shift schedule in some western territory positions

Territory and Travel

• Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic
• Territory includes Fresno and Madera County
• Estimated weekly travel: 200–300 miles
• Mileage is reimbursed at the IRS standard rate
• Travel time is compensated from patient home to patient home; commute to the first and last patient is not billable

Patient Volume and Productivity

• Average patient load: 5–8 patients per day
• Weekly productivity expectation: 25–30 units
• Assignment may involve 5–10 patients per day

Charting and Clinical Systems

• Must be proficient with HomeCare HomeBase and have used it within the last 6 months
• OASIS proficiency is required for RNs

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers are not accepted
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Dress code: Scrubs
• On-call backup for call-outs: twice a week
