Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Facility Type: Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Short term, Acute Care

Position Details
- Specialty: MS/Tele (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week (some 40-hour options)
- Floating: Required within MS/Tele, PCU, lower acuity settings, and ED (Emergency Department)
- Ratios: 1:5 (possible 1:6) in ED
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule (may vary by unit)
- On-call: Not required
- Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
- Locals: Not accepted within 75 miles
- Pending License: Accepted (NM license can pend at time of submission)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Absences greater than 10 days require approval
- Special Skills Required: IV starts, Telemetry
- Guaranteed Hours: Contracted hours per week; facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC (RQI not accepted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC (RQI not accepted)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI, MOAB for Behavioral Health)
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Aya requirement)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam) with minimum passing scores (80% overall, 100% on Lethal Arrhythmia section)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) through Relias required for specific units
- Arrhythmia Exam Review and attestation required for certain units
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
- Education verification or diploma/transcript if third-party verification unavailable
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (NM Department of Health clearance)
- Social Security Card copy may be requested
- Work history verification for minimum 3 years required
- Two professional references within three years of hire
- Skills checklist required
- Various facility-specific compliance forms and attestations (e.g., traveler compliance form, confidentiality statement, emergency contact form)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; history of disease not accepted)
- Hepatitis B (declination, series, or titer)
- Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted
- Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- COVID vaccination no longer required but reporting still in place
Additional Notes
- A valid non-local driver’s license is required (identification cards not accepted)
- Location is not near public transportation
- Parking is free
- Charting system used: Cerner
- Overtime applies after 48 hours on contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025

This position is suitable for registered nurses with at least 1 year of experience in MS/Telemetry who are comfortable floating across related units and meeting certification and competency requirements. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
