Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Pediatrics / Med Surge Traveler
Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (explicitly stated)
- Licenses:
- Missouri and Kansas nursing licenses required (can start with Kansas license pending Missouri)
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA only; HeartCode accepted; RQI not accepted)
- PEARS
- PALS (AHA only; required for all RNs except Case Managers)
- ACLS (AHA only; not required for RRT or OR)
- NRP (AHA 8th Edition Advanced Certification, as required)
- TNCC (required for all ER/Peds ER)
- Testing:
- Pass/Fail medication calculation/dosage test during orientation (100% required to pass)
- Pediatric pharmacology competency exam
- Color Blind Testing (required for all clinical candidates)
- Pediatric competency exam
- Background Checks:
- Within 3 months of start, including county and statewide searches for Missouri and Kansas
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated every 6 months
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam (initial and annual)
- Immunizations: Tdap (within 10 years), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (2-step PPD or equivalent)
- Flu vaccine for current season or medical/religious exemption (declinations NOT accepted)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel within 30 days prior to start
- Other Requirements:
- Government-issued photo ID carried during hours of service
- E-Verify proof or attestation
- Residency declaration if working on a compact license
- Missouri Highway Patrol Check
- Facility-specific forms including health form, TB questionnaire, medication review packet, and orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- References: 2 supervisory references or performance evaluations within 1 year of start
- Skills checklist for pediatrics (when applicable)
Additional Notes
- This is a pediatric-focused role within a hospital setting.
- Candidates must be prepared for night shifts with 12-hour rotations.
- Compliance with all facility-specific documentation and testing is mandatory prior to and during the assignment.
- Candidates can start ASAP.
