Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Specialty & Unit Details

• Specialty: Mixed Acuity (Medical Surgical/Telemetry & Stepdown)
• Multi-care level unit; RNs care for up to five Med Surg patients.
• 48-bed unit specializing in Neurology and Neurosurgery (strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain/spinal cord tumors, long-term EEG monitoring).
• Patient ratios:

  • Med Surg/Telemetry: 1:5 days / 1:6 nights (night ratio may occasionally be 1:7)
  • Stepdown: 1:3-4 days and nights
• Drip management required on all floors.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• Floating within scope to other units/campuses may be required.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required.
• Must have 2 years experience in a large, urban hospital.
• First-time travelers NOT accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
• Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required.

Work Schedule & Other Requirements

• Shift options: 36 or 48 hours.
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat night).
• Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
• Locals NOT accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility).
• Pending license accepted but must be in hand at time of submission or booking delayed 6 weeks.
• Facility is 100% nicotine-free.
• Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided/sold by facility).
• Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking option.

Certifications & Compliance

• Required certifications (as applicable):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Stroke certification required as applicable.
• Medication competency and color blindness testing required.
• Background checks including federal and state registry searches required.
• Primary source license verification required prior to start.
• Annual skills checklist required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask models required).
• Tdap vaccine within last 10 years.
• Annual TB testing or equivalent documentation.
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer required; boosters if titers low.
• Hepatitis B titer required or declination accepted.
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer required; boosters if titers low.
• Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually.
• Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory; documentation or declination required.
• COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted.
• Eye exam required if working in OR (within 30 days of start).

Additional Notes

• Must submit requests for return to office (RTO) time with application; up to 2 weeks permitted.
• Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors.
• Facility is a large academic medical center with complex patient population and teaching affiliation.
