Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Oncology
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Oncology)
- Shift: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday
- Patient Age Group: Adults
- Weekend Requirement: Call one Saturday per month, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- On-Call Requirement: Call one Saturday per month, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- Floating: Yes
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Scrub Colors: Royal Blue or Galaxy Blue
- Flu Vaccine: Required, no exemptions or declinations accepted
- Local Candidates: Accepted within 75 miles
Experience & Licensure
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in specialty (Oncology)
- Licensure: North Carolina or Compact license required and must be in hand
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- Chemotherapy Certification (ONS/ONCC)
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, counties lived/worked in last 7 years, sex offender, international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days of start
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Flu vaccine (mandatory)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap every 10 years
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive titers (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Polio vaccine or attestation
Additional Requirements
- Must set up a Duke Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Competency exams and unit-specific training required
- Completion of online modules prior to orientation
- Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months, at least one must be a supervisor
- Skills checklist and employment application must be current and complete
Notes
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and documentation deadlines
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some document requirements waived or accepted on file
- Call and weekend requirements are mandatory
- Floating between units is expected
