Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract
Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut

Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours (7pm - 7am), every other week (EOW)

Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Minimum Experience: 2 years in Telemetry nursing (highest required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- Telemetry certification required (must pass EKG/Tele exam before start)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (check unit description):
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for ER, preferred for Pediatric ER
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for Psychiatry/Behavioral Health, preferred for ER
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for most RNs except certain specialties)
Competency Exams & Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 85%)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates starting 8/2/2024, must score 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, ICU, Progressive Care, PACU, IR/Cath, GI units)
Background & Verification Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check (updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (within 30 days of start)
- Education verification including foreign equivalency evaluation if internationally educated
- State license primary source verification (CT license must be applied for within 72 hours of start)
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Employment application with 7-year work history, no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
- Varicella
- Tdap vaccination highly preferred for Pediatric, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum (declination accepted)
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination preferred

- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (except Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training (new or updated if gap >6 months)
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Summary
This is a night shift Telemetry RN travel contract position requiring a minimum of 2 years of telemetry nursing experience. Candidates must be certified in BLS and ACLS, pass a Telemetry EKG exam, and meet extensive background, health, and competency requirements. The facility uses EPIC for charting and is a Level II Trauma Center with 426 beds. Multiple facility-specific trainings and attestations are required prior to or during orientation.
