Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Modesto, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
• Deliver holistic, individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
• Collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers.
• Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws to promote optimal patient experience.

Requirements

• Licensure: California RN License required
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – must be current within 180 days of hire
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – must be current within 180 days of hire
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) – must be current within 90 days of hire
• Experience:

  • Prior travel experience required
  • EPIC experience required
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:45 - 19:15)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other Saturday/Sunday and holidays as needed

Background Checks & Verifications

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
• Sex offender search must be run within 90 days of start.
• Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
• Transcript/Diploma verification as needed, especially for international education.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work).
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – proof of immunity or vaccination required
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
• Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam required).
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually (exceptions apply).

Competency & Skills

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required depending on unit.

Documentation & Compliance

• Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days.
• Employment verification required for up to 7 years.
• References: 2 professional references required for clinical acute care roles.
• Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, vendor training, code of conduct, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
• TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and renewed annually.
• Religious exemption forms available for certain vaccine and PAPR requirements (approval required).

• Hard copy or documentation of professional license required if verification does not include license number.
• Background checks and certifications must be current and valid at time of start.
• Candidates with work restrictions must provide documentation; accommodations will be considered.
• Failure to pass fit mask test due to facial hair requires shaving and retesting or PAPR training.
• Candidates must comply with all health and safety protocols as per facility and state regulations.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with prior travel experience who are licensed in California and meet the certification and immunization requirements. The role involves working in an acute care setting with a collaborative healthcare team.
