Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: South Bend, Indiana

Job Details

• Shift: Days (1900-0730) and Nights
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call Requirement: On call twice per contract
• Floating: Required to float across all adult inpatient departments including cardiac stepdown, oncology, ortho/trauma, post-surgical, rehab, and ICU stepdown as needed
• Holiday Requirement: 1 winter holiday
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Start Date: ASAP

Experience & Certifications

• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• First-timers Accepted: Yes
• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• Preferred Certifications:

  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
• Preferred Experience: Telemetry experience required
• Preferred System Experience: Cerner (PowerChart) experience highly preferred

Licensure & Location Requirements

• License: Must have an active license by start date
• Locals: Not accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles away from the facility
• Pending License: Accepted if active by start

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in, required within 90 days of start
• Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required
• Physical exam required
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (T-Spots not accepted)
• TB questionnaire required prior to start and annually
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start; documentation must be on file by December 15
• COVID vaccine exemptions allowed with medical or religious documentation

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete facility-specific modules (70-80 modules, approx. 8-10 hours) prior to start; paid for completion
• On-site EKG exam required for Monitor Techs (not applicable for this RN role)
• Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement required prior to start
• Photo for badge required (passport-style with solid background)

This position is ideal for a telemetry-trained RN with at least 1 year of experience, comfortable floating across multiple adult inpatient units, and able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Prior travel experience is not required, and first-time travelers are welcome.
