Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, every other holiday

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units.
• Position is part of a resource pool supporting patient care needs.

Required Qualifications

Licensure and Education

• Valid RN license in Iowa.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience.
• Experience must be within the last year.

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).

Health and Safety Requirements

• COVID-19 vaccination proof including booster or approved exemption/declination (declination not accepted in CA or IL).
• Influenza vaccine proof or declination (optional).
• Hepatitis B vaccination series started prior to assignment.
• MMR vaccination proof or immunity titer.
• Varicella vaccination proof or immunity titer.
• Tdap vaccine (declination accepted if no pediatric interaction).
• 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) test for tuberculosis screening.
• Fit test for respiratory protection.
• Physical exam documentation within the last year confirming fitness to work.
• 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (no THC).

Background and Compliance

• Federal, nationwide, and county criminal background check covering the last 7 years, including SSN verification.
• Iowa-specific criminal history, sex offender, and dependent adult & child abuse registry checks.
• Education verification of highest academic degree or diploma.
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) and OIG (Office of Inspector General) exclusion checks.
• NSO (National Sex Offender) registry check.
• Conflict of interest disclosure form.
• Code of conduct form.
• Confidentiality and information security agreement.
• Integrity and audit services form.
• Non-employee upload form.
• System access form (to be completed one week before start).
• Joint Commission CORE exam within the last year.

Additional Requirements

• Skills checklist provided and completed by agency prior to start.
• Specialty-specific competency testing.
• Trinity profile submission including resume, skills checklist, and two professional references.
