Job Opportunity: Adult Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Call Requirements:
- Weekend call rotation: 1 in 6
- Weekend call shift: Friday 4:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM, with Saturday shift 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- One evening call night per week (staff on weekend call do not have a weekday call shift)
Job Description
- Perform 6-8 adult echocardiograms per shift
- Some NICU/Pediatric cardiac sonography experience is desired but not required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer
- Cardiac Sonographer experience within the last year
- ARDMS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
Certifications & Verifications (Must be completed prior to or within 30 days of start)
- ARDMS certification for Cardiac Sonographer
- State license verification from the state board
- BLS certification (AHA only)
- Fit test (annual, within last 12 months) for approved respirator models
- TB testing (annual requirement):
- Two skin PPDs (one within 12 months, one within 3 months) or
- One Quantiferon/Spot test within 12 months
- For past positive TB tests, chest x-ray within 12 months may be required
- MMR immunity: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required with documentation
- Varicella immunity: Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series required with documentation
- Hepatitis B immunity: Positive antibody titer, 3 vaccine series, or facility-specific declination form
- Influenza vaccine or facility-specific declination form (if declination, mask must be worn at all times)
- Physical/Health Statement (within last 12 months) including vitals, Snellen eye chart, and physician clearance with no restrictions
- Agency drug screen (9+ panel) within 30 days of start
- Agency background check within 30 days of start, including national and county criminal searches for all counties lived/worked in last 7 years, FACIS 3 check, and SSN address trace
- Valid, unexpired US driver’s license or state ID
Documentation & Forms
- Completed skills checklist for the assigned unit (updated annually)
- Core competency exam with a minimum score of 80%
- Signed job description
- Two professional references:
- One supervisor reference from employment within last 12 months
- One supervisor or peer reference from employment within last 3 years
- Resume accounting for all employment and gaps in last 7 years, with education history
- Various facility-specific forms including health personal information, code of conduct, confirmation of assignment, self-study packet and quiz, sexual harassment acknowledgement, parking registration, and others as required
Additional Notes
- Color headshot photo required (no filters, sunglasses, or shadows; JPEG format)
- COVID-19 vaccine proof or agency declination is optional
- Tdap vaccine preferred but not required; if no record, facility-specific declination form required
- Extended travelers beyond one year must complete a health reassessment form
This position offers a structured day shift with a defined weekend call schedule and requires a Cardiac Sonographer with ARDMS certification and appropriate licensure. Compliance with comprehensive onboarding and health requirements is mandatory.
