Job Description

The CT Tech performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This role requires ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment to produce high-quality scans.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions.
  • Operate CT equipment and related information systems to ensure quality image production.
  • Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and patient preparation.
  • Perform exams according to department protocols.
  • Review and evaluate images for quality, clarity, and accuracy, capturing all necessary anatomical structures.
  • Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Complete studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or exam quality.
  • Provide patient education, ensure comfort, and address patient/family concerns.
  • Coordinate patient care and communicate relevant information to other providers.
  • Practice infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Keep accurate records of patient information, procedures, and any adverse reactions or incidents.
  • Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, quality control, and equipment reporting.
  • Administer contrast media under physician supervision and educate patients on safety concerns.
  • Stay updated on CT technology, techniques, and protocols through continuing education.
  • Assist and instruct students and other technologists in protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of sectional anatomy, anatomic terminology, and positioning competency.
  • Proficiency in operating CT equipment and knowledge of CT imaging techniques and protocols.
  • Knowledge of contrast administration protocols, including contrast injector operation.
  • Proficiency with electronic imaging systems (viewing, transferring, manipulating images).
  • Ability to recognize and respond to emergent patient situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills with caregivers and patients.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a clean, safe environment.

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: CT Tech
  • Years of Experience: 2 years (higher value between 1-2 years preferred and 1-2 years healthcare experience)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Contract Length

  • Approximately 13 weeks (89 days ≈ 13 weeks)
