Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Technologist

Location: Normal, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Allied Health
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

Perform ultrasound procedures to ensure accurate and complete examinations for patients of all ages. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing ultrasound imaging with competency, demonstrating appropriate anatomy and pathology
  • Assessing abdominal arterial and venous systems using color imaging
  • Preparing and handling catheters, biopsy instruments, and sterile trays as needed
  • Obtaining patient histories and explaining procedures to patients and families
  • Enhancing image quality through proper transducer and machine settings
  • Evaluating images to ensure diagnostic quality before submission to radiologists
  • Maintaining quality care throughout procedures
  • Operating and troubleshooting ultrasound equipment, maintaining clean and stocked work areas
  • Assisting radiologists with invasive procedures such as biopsies and ordering labs/pathology tests under their direction
  • Supporting department functions to meet patient needs and training fellow technologists/students
  • Managing patient flow and timely processing of images and paperwork
  • Maintaining QA, QC, and QI programs within the department
  • Fostering a professional and respectful learning environment

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Associate’s Degree in Sonography or Radiology, or Certificate of completion of a Radiologic Technology program
  • Experience in Fetal Echocardiography
  • Experience as an Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn) Sonographer
  • Experience as a Breast Sonographer
  • Experience as a Pediatric Ultrasound Technologist
