Location: Normal, Illinois Employment Type: Clinical Nursing Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Day, 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Role Overview

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care using the nursing process and works within the philosophy of the institution.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties required by the unit within the scope of service
• Completes initial patient assessments and develops and modifies plans of care based on patient and family needs and continuous evaluation
• Maintains accurate, up-to-date nursing documentation
• Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and correcting hazards and incidents
• Prepares the OR suite, including supplies, equipment, and medications
• Verifies patient identity with two identifiers, transports and positions the patient, and performs timeouts at suite entry, before incision, and before exit
• Supports the surgical team during procedures
• Transports patients to PACU or a specific unit and hands off to the receiving RN
• Fulfills all departmental competency requirements and offers constructive feedback to peers

Required Qualifications

• Valid Illinois RN license in good standing
• Minimum of 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience
• Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
