Role Summary

Travel contract for an experienced Telemetry nurse on the Tele 4th floor unit.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Stepdown experience
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Cerner EMR experience

Unit Details

• Unit: Tele 4th floor
• 34 beds
• High acuity tele, more PCU/stepdown
• Cardiac Tele floor
• Level II facility

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Days and nights listed: 7a, 7p
• 36 hours per week
• 2 weekends every 4 weeks
• Holidays: one major and two minor, same as core staff

Clinical Setting

• Nurse aides available, but not always
• Charge nurse each shift
• Hospitalist in house 24/7
• RT 24/7
• Pharmacy 24/7
• No IV team
• Vents: bi-pap
• Nurses must read and interpret their own strips

Floating

• First to float to MS Tele floors 5th, 6th, and 7th

Patient Population

• Post CVA
• Rule-out CHF
• Respiratory failure
• DM
• HTN
• Non-titrating drips
• Cardizem
• Titrate heparin only
• No insulin drips
• Post-ops
• Some post cardiac caths
• Post PCI patients are not assigned to travelers

Additional Notes

• Standby response time is 30 minutes
• No block or set scheduling
• Extra shifts may be available
• Must prioritize the travel assignment schedule
• Cannot be perm or per diem at another CommonSpirit facility within the past 12 months
• Cannot have a second job
• 50-mile radius rule applies
• Cerner experience affects orientation length: 2 shifts with Cerner, 3 without
• Travelers may not always have a nurse aide and may need to do primary nursing
