RN (Registered Nurse) — Salt Lake City, Utah

Assignment details

  • 13-week contract
  • Nights
  • 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend
  • Every other holiday
  • 2–3 days of unit orientation
  • Week of orientation must be completed in state

Unit overview

  • ER/ED float pool
  • Trauma level varies by location
  • Mixed ER holds
  • No separate psych/seclusion rooms
  • No monitor techs; nurse must be able to read and interpret telemetry
  • RT is available 24/7
  • Point-of-care lab testing is performed after training
  • Typical patient volume varies by location
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4–5 based on acuity
  • Common patient types include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
  • Standard ER medications are used
  • Charge nurse takes an assignment
  • Techs support unit secretary work, assist nurses, and help with triage
  • Navy blue scrubs

Floating

  • Float within the zone’s ERs
  • May float to another location mid-shift
  • May float in a CNA/sitter capacity if census is low and hours need to be met
  • Travel time between float locations is paid

Required qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS or ENPC
  • NIHSS
  • TNCC
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry
  • Driver’s license must be submitted

Additional notes

  • Candidate interview is followed by an interview with the clinical team
  • No unit manager interview
  • Traveler is responsible for housing that supports floating throughout the full zone
