Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU 4N

Location: Savannah, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a combined Med-Surg and Stepdown patient population. The unit has 12 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:4 to 1:5 depending on acuity.

Unit Details

Unit Type: PCU (Progressive Care Unit) / Med-Surg / Stepdown
Number of Beds: 12
Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5 (acuity dependent)
Common Patient Diagnoses: Med-Surg cases, Sickle Cell, Heart Failure, etc.
Telemetry: Required skill; however, RNs do not read their own strips.
Drip Management: PCU nurses titrate set rate drips.
Phlebotomy: RNs draw their own labs (no dedicated phlebotomy).
Respiratory Therapy Equipment: Nasal cannula, face masks, BiPAP.
Monitoring: Telemetry monitored remotely (no Tele/Monitor Techs on unit).
Charge Nurse: Yes, charge nurse takes an assignment.
Nurse Aides: Present with a 12:1 ratio.
Scheduling: Self-scheduling allowed; 12-hour day shifts.
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
Holiday Requirement: Yes.
Call/Standby: None.
Floating: Not required.
Dress Code: Navy scrubs.
Orientation: One day computer skills with knowledge assessment, plus two shifts orientation with preceptor.

Required Certifications

BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Required Experience & Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with a solid PCU skillset.
Experience in a hospital of similar size and acuity is required.
Successful completion of at least 1 prior travel nursing contract is mandatory.
Candidates must pass a clinical resume review for consideration.

Additional Notes

Strict 100-mile radius rule; local candidates will not be considered.
No floating or call requirements.
Unit emphasizes teamwork with charge nurse involvement and nurse aide support.

This position is ideal for experienced PCU nurses who have prior travel nursing experience and are comfortable managing telemetry patients in a progressive care setting.
