Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist

Location: Boise, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

A hospital in Idaho is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week travel assignment. The position involves working inpatient floors including adult, pediatric, and NICU patients.


Required Qualifications

  • License: Respiratory Therapist license appropriate for the state of Idaho
  • Certifications:
    • Adults: BLS, ACLS
    • Pediatrics: BLS, PALS
    • NICU: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Experience:
    • RRT preferred with at least 2-3 years of experience
    • CRT acceptable with 3-5 years of experience
  • Skills:
    • Ability to manage all RT equipment, treatments, transport, and ABGs
    • Assist with intubation (independent intubation not required)
    • For NICU coverage, knowledge of NAVA (Naturally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist) on Servo vents is required
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers are welcome

Work Details

  • Unit: Respiratory Therapy, covering adult floors, pediatric floors, and NICU
  • Patient Load: 36-42 treatments per 12-hour shift or 12-14 treatments every 4 hours
  • Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Required to work if scheduled during holidays
  • Call: No call or standby call required
  • Floating: May float to Meridian Medical Center and Nampa Medical Center
  • Orientation: Typically 2-3 shifts, including adult floor care, pediatric floor, NICU, and possibly adult ICU if assigned
  • Team: Not the only RT in-house; typically 15-20 RTs on days and 10-12 on nights
  • Supervision: Lead therapist on each shift; manager and supervisor available during the day
  • Equipment:
    • Ventilators: Draeger (adults), Servo U (peds)
    • V60 BiPAPs, Vapotherm high flow, Optiflow (NICU and PICU)
    • Philips Cough Assist, ResMed home CPAP
    • HillRom Vest machines for percussion, Hill-Rom Metaneb
  • Dress Code: Any clean and professional scrub color

Additional Notes

  • Must start by 03/23 or 03/30
  • Hospitalist and intensivist coverage 24/7
  • No EKG duties required
  • Scheduler attempts to accommodate preferred blocks but not guaranteed
  • Overtime may be available

This position is suitable for respiratory therapists with solid clinical experience who are comfortable working across multiple patient populations and settings, including NICU. Prior travel experience is not mandatory.

L&D Unit is Traveler friendly for CST roll as well as RN roll. Work load is very manageable. Great staff support.
