Registered Polysomnographic Technologist

Location: Show Low, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 1830-0700)
Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed)


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist
  • Recent polysomnographer experience within the last year
  • BLS Certification required
  • RPSGT certification required

Job Responsibilities

Polysomnographer I

  • Review patient histories, medications, and procedures
  • Apply electrodes and sensors
  • Perform calibrations
  • Monitor and gather data acquisition
  • Document observations including sleep stages and clinical events
  • Perform PAP titration per protocol
  • Complete data and remove wires/sensors
  • Fax reports to physicians
  • Clean rooms and work areas
  • Demonstrate professional etiquette and promote patient safety standards

Polysomnographer II

  • All duties of Polysomnographer I
  • Score patient acquisitions using latest AASM rules
  • Prepare draft reports for Medical Director interpretation

Polysomnographer III

  • All duties of Polysomnographer I and II
  • Perform pediatric sleep studies including ETCO2 hookup and scoring pediatric data
  • Complete preceptor course and assist in training new staff
  • Communicate with CPAP equipment providers regarding masks
  • Organize sleep schedule for managerial approval

Skills & Requirements

  • Operational knowledge of Sleep Lab equipment, including “Alice 5” and/or “Alice 6” polysomnography systems
  • Proficient with office equipment: fax, printer, phone systems, computer
  • Familiarity with hospital information systems, MS Office, email, and internet
  • Strong customer service, problem-solving, organizational, multitasking, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and maintain professional telephone etiquette

Additional Information

  • Secondary duties include scanning and mailing paperwork, stocking the lab, participating in meetings and in-services, and reviewing policies annually
  • Shift hours may vary slightly (approximate hours 1900-0730)
