Location: Moab, Utah
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)
Position Overview
Join a newly opened retail pharmacy located within a hospital setting in Moab, Utah. This full-time pharmacist role involves managing day-to-day pharmacy operations, medication dispensing, patient care, training, and community engagement. The position requires coverage during key holidays and offers a variable schedule aligned with retail pharmacy hours.
Schedule & Hours
- Anticipated 40 hours per week
- Pharmacy Hours:
- Monday - Saturday: 9:30 AM – 8:30 PM
- Sunday: 2:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- Holiday Coverage Required:
- Thanksgiving (11/26/2025 - 11/30/2025)
- Christmas (12/23/2025 - 12/28/2025)
- New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day (12/31/2025 - 1/2/2026)
- Specific holiday hours vary (e.g., Thanksgiving Day 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM)
Key Responsibilities
Pharmacy Operations
- Manage daily pharmacy operations ensuring regulatory compliance
- Inventory management, audits, and waste minimization
- Collaborate with suppliers and wholesalers for medication orders
- Maintain compliance with the federal 340B program
Medication Dispensing & Patient Care
- Accurately interpret and dispense prescriptions per laws and regulations
- Conduct medication reviews including drug interaction checks
- Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality
- Administer immunizations under protocols
- Provide patient consultations on medication use, side effects, and OTC products
- Address customer inquiries and resolve prescription or insurance issues
- Collaborate with healthcare providers for optimal medication therapy management
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a patient-centered approach
Training & Education
- Supervise and train pharmacy technicians and students as applicable
- Stay current with licensure and hospital education requirements
Community Engagement
- Represent the pharmacy in community outreach and educational programs
- Build relationships with healthcare providers and community stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy
- Current, full, unrestricted pharmacy license in Utah
- Licensure to dispense controlled substances in Utah
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team
- Willingness to learn financial aspects of pharmacy operations
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years retail pharmacy experience
- APhA Immunization Certification
- Prior pharmacy management experience
Additional Information
- May assist in other pharmaceutical care areas within the hospital
- Level 4 Trauma facility
- Blue scrubs preferred
