• Patient Ratios:

  • PCU: 1:4+
  • Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele): 1:5 (confirm with traveler)
• Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday
• Float Pool: True float pool; will float between MS/Tele, PCU, and ED holding areas
• Scheduling: No block scheduling
• Locals Accepted

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO) — confirm with program coordinator

• Care for CVAs (strokes) and TBIs (traumatic brain injuries)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start
  • Must include all aliases and locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Nationwide and state-specific searches required
  • Candidates cannot start with open cases
• Drug Screening:

  • 10-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
  • Immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
• Fit Testing:

  • On-site fit testing mandatory for respirator use
  • Facial hair must be clean-shaven unless accommodation approved
• Other Required Documents:

  • I9 verification
  • Driver’s license or state ID
  • E-Verify clearance
  • Vendor Medical Clearance Form if history of positive TB
  • Respiratory medical clearance and questionnaire
  • Latex allergy questionnaire if applicable
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
  • Color blind testing (if job tasks require)
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge
• References:

  • Two references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
• Work History:

  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
  • Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start)

• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Must have well-rounded Stepdown or PCU experience
• Must complete floating policy for every new assignment or site transfer
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (online and in-person training)
• Annual education sign-off and facility-specific orientation required
• CEUs (Continuing Education Units) required for certain specialties and must be kept current

This position offers a dynamic float pool role requiring strong acute care and PCU experience, with a variety of certifications and compliance requirements to ensure readiness for multiple unit assignments.
