Job Summary: Registered Nurse - New Brunswick, New Jersey (Travel/Contract)
Position Details

Job Description
- Patient ratios: 1:4+ for high acuity/IMC patients; may increase to 1:5-6+ when floated to MS/Tele.
- RN must have 2 years of experience in an acute care setting.
- First-time travelers are accepted (prior travel experience not required).
- Work schedule includes every other weekend and holiday.
- RN will float within their skillset when not needed on the home unit.
- No block scheduling.
- Locals accepted.
- Patient mix includes 28-bed IMC with post CABG, post-op mini valve and TAVRs, chest tubes, pre/post cardiac cath, surgery, and hemodialysis patients. No ventilators.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years acute care RN experience.
- Experience with EPIC charting.
- Interpretation and management of EKG.
- Dressing changes and wound vacs.
- Management of arterial lines (A-lines), heparin, cardiac drips (no titration).
- Experience with PCAs, chest tubes, CPAP, and tracheostomies.
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (confirm with program coordinator).
Work Requirements
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required.
- Must be able to float within skillset.
- Compliance with facility floating policy required.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per facility requirements.
- Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
- Respirator medical clearance and fit testing (on-site fit test mandatory).
- Completion of required competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and pass/fail testing.
- Color blindness testing if job tasks require color discrimination.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs.
- Annual education sign-off and facility-specific orientation requirements.
- References: 2 references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history.
- Work history verification per New Jersey state requirements.
