Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
- Specialty: Operating Room (OR) Nurse
- Required Years of Experience: 2 years
- Experience Required In:
- General surgery
- Trauma surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Cardiovascular surgery
- Facility Level: Experience in Level 1 OR Trauma centers is a hard requirement
- First-timers Accepted: Yes, but must have experience at a Level I facility
- On-call: Yes
- Pending State License: Not accepted
Certifications & Licenses Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, must be current and not expiring the same month as start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, must be current and not expiring the same month as start
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only, must be current and not expiring the same month as start
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - AHA only, must be current and not expiring the same month as start
- State RN License (Primary Source Verification required)
- NURSYS Verification for RN license
- NIH Stroke Certification (required within 6 months of start, no exceptions)
Experience & Requirements
- Must have experience working in Level 1 trauma centers
- General surgery, trauma surgery, neurosurgery, and cardiovascular surgery experience required
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Associates degree acceptable for travel staff
Background & Compliance
- 7-year background check required within 30 days of start and updated annually, including:
- SS Trace
- Counties
- Nationwide
- National Sex Offender
- FACIS Level 3
- Education verification (Bachelor’s degree required for permanent staff; Associates acceptable for travel)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test (TSPOT or QGOLD within 3 months) or 2-step PPD within 3 months; if positive, chest X-ray and TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required or declination signed
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) with deadlines
- COVID vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
Competency & Facility Specific Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
- Unit Competency Exam required
- Facility-specific onboarding modules and documents must be completed prior to start (not paid)
- Photo for badge (forward-facing, neutral background) required
- Various facility-specific agreements and acknowledgments must be signed
This position is ideal for experienced OR nurses with trauma center experience looking for a 13-week travel contract on night shifts in a Level 1 trauma center environment.
