Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Metairie, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Experience: Minimum 2 years required (ONS Chemo Certified Oncology experience accepted)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Course
• Preferred Certification: CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• EMR System: EPIC experience required

Work Schedule & Environment

• Weekend shifts may be required every other weekend (varies by unit needs)
• Holiday shifts required
• No call requirement
• Float requirement: Will float within Medical-Surgical Oncology and other MS units
• Patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:6

Typical Procedures on Unit

• Bone Marrow Biopsy
• Central Line Management
• Blood and Bone Marrow Transplants

Competencies & Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) required and updated annually

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months (not required by facility but required by placement agency)
• Immunizations and health documentation required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 3 months)
  • TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination (required Oct 1 – March 31) with exemptions accepted
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)

Additional Notes

• Minimize any time-off requests during Mardi Gras period (2/13 - 2/22)
• Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with oncology or chemotherapy certification and EPIC system proficiency, comfortable with floating across units and working weekends and holidays.
