Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PICU/NICU Float)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (PICU/NICU Float)
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years (Note: First-time travelers only considered if they have 5+ years experience)
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses)
    • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) required for PICU
  • Required Skills:
    • Experience in NICU and PICU
    • Trauma Level 1 experience
  • Floating Requirements: Must float between NICU and acute pediatric patients within the facility
  • Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend days per month
  • On-Call: Not required
  • Local Candidates: Accepted

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Licensure:
    • Current, unencumbered state nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
    • NURSYS verification required within 30 days prior to start
  • Background Checks:
    • Must be completed within 1 year of start date, including SS Trace, 7-year county, national criminal, and FACIS III
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
    • Education verification (diploma or transcripts) required prior to start
    • Fingerprinting required with results on file within 90 days after start (proof of initiation within 7 days)
    • Sex offender search required within 30 days of start
  • Health Requirements: (Must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract unless otherwise noted)
    • Physical exam confirming good health and no physical limitations (valid within 1 year)
    • Fit mask test completed onsite during orientation (returning candidates must update if expired)
    • Immunizations and titers:
      • TDAP (within 10 years; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
      • Negative TB test (Qgold or Tspot within 1 year) or chest X-ray if prior positive
      • TB questionnaire if positive TB history (within 30 days of start)
      • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or proof of 2 vaccines required; booster doses required if titers negative/equivocal
      • Hepatitis B: Completed vaccine series, positive IGG titer, or declination within last year
    • Drug testing: Negative result within 12 months; must include specific drug panels including methamphetamine
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Additional Facility-Specific Requirements:
    • Candidate must sign confidentiality, job expectations, and orientation acknowledgment forms
    • Must watch facility New Employee Orientation video and upload proof of completion before starting
  • Employment History & References:
    • Resume covering last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
    • Current and accurate skills checklist within 1 year
    • References required per agency policy (not facility requirement)

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is required: First-time travelers are only accepted if they have 5+ years of experience.
  • Floating between NICU and acute pediatric units is mandatory.
  • No on-call duties required.
  • Weekend work is required (3 days per month).
